Adventures in Haircutting

It's been over two months, so I suppose it's time for a blog post!  Tonight, we gave Luke his first real haircut.  At 11 months, I gave him a trim around his ears and the back hairline.  Since then, it has really been growing and looked a bit hippyish (as Chad would say).  I was thinking about just taking him to a professional, but I really wanted to have a go of it myself.  I already cut Chad's hair, so it would be nice (and a money-saving option!) to cut it at home.  I first started with scissors, but it was so long in the back that Chad thought the clippers would work best.  Luke hated the scissors - probably because he had to remain fairly still for me to cut it straight.  We gave it a go with the clippers and boy am I glad we did!  The clippers were set at 1-inch and he didn't mind the buzzing noise at all!  That's probably because he loves it when I vacuum and tries to ride the vacuum :)  The good thing is that he had free range to move, because the clippers wouldn't go more than an inch.  I just had to do a bit of trimming with the scissors around his ears and neck, which is why he is crying towards the end.  All in all, a surprisingly successful event and he looks so much like a little boy now, not a baby.

Before.  Cute, but crazy hair!

He didn't know what was coming!  Maybe now he will be able to hear better, since his hair was in his ears.

His hair was getting so wild in the back, it was getting tangly!

OK, Mommy, I'm ready!

He liked it!

Look at how long his hair is in the back.
Wowzers!  Looks like a little animal :)

He didn't like the last part with the scissors.

After a bath and some touch ups with the scissors, he's looking pretty spiffy!

All done!  He now has bangs!!!

For comparison, here is Meredith's hair.  Super long!
